INTRODUCTION

The Directory of School Conflict Management Trainers was developed by the Ohio Commission on Dispute Resolution and Conflict Management as part of a joint initiative with the Ohio Department of Education to provide conflict management materials and training to Ohio elementary, middle, and high schools. The overall goal of this initiative is to create safe school environments conducive to teaching and learning.

This directory includes an alphabetical listing of school conflict management trainers in Ohio. It is intended to assist schools in selecting trainers to work with students and adults to teach concepts and life skills needed to better understand and deal with conflict. Teaching effective conflict management as a life skill is a critical link in the prevention and reduction of violent and disruptive behavior among youth.

To compile this directory the Commission and the Ohio Department of Education asked trainers to complete a trainer profile form listing their background, experience, and references. The directory summarizes this information for each trainer. Profile forms were sent to all of the not-for-profit organizations listed in the Ohio Directory of Dispute Resolution and Conflict Management Programs as well as other community and school-based organizations that provide conflict management training. There is no fee to be listed in this directory. If you or your organization provide school-based conflict management training and are not listed in the directory, please complete the trainer profile listed in the back of the directory and return it to the Commission to be included in the next edition.

The Commission and the Department of Education do not endorse any trainers or organizations listed in this directory and strongly recommend that consumers read the Commission’s Consumer Guide to Selecting a Conflict Management Trainer prior to hiring a trainer. If you did not receive a Consumer Guide with this directory, you can obtain a copy by contacting the Commission. At this time Ohio has no licensure or certification requirements for school-based conflict management trainers.

For more information on school-based conflict management or how to start a program in your school, please contact the Commission at (614) 752-9595.
