Russ Lammermeir, a Social Studies teacher and Mediation Advisor at Max Hayes Vocational High School, teaches a semester long Conflict Resolution class. The class is based on the resource guides material provided by the Ohio Commission on Dispute Resolution and Conflict Management.
The class originated through their school counselor who was aware of a code number in the district which allows a course like this. The class has been offered for four years and provides for a lot of opportunity for group discussion and role playing. It also provides an opportunity to explore issues involving conflict resolution not only in a global context but personal as well.
This course is now offered at Glenville High School by their Guidance Counselor and Peer Mediation Advisor, and an adaptive version is offered at Audubon Middle School.
