SYNOPSIS:

David escaped from a prison camp at the age of twelve. His destination was Denmark as that may be the location of his family. As he encountered people he discovered kindness and understanding that he had never experienced. During his adventure he became a responsible and contributing member of society. He became a hero, as he rescued a young child from a burning house. He lived with and learned to trust the girl's family. They felt deeply indebted to him.

David wrote a letter to the family upon his leaving--he stated:

" It is important not to give in to people who love violence and think they have the right to take away another person's life and liberty. And if you don't let them change what you think and believe, then you have won."

In the end, David returned to Denmark and discovered his identity as well as his family.
